Ruler Foods Might Have Priced Themselves Out of the Market

I have posted many times about my interest in quick, easy meal nights that incorporate On-Cor meals, which include Salisbury steaks, chicken parmigiana, and riblets. Their price for the longest time on these at Ruler Foods? $3.69. I usually tend to get my Salisbury steaks in the Aldi Bremer brand because they tend to be about 20 cents cheaper than On-Cor. So, that was already priced out. But now the On-Cor meals have jumped to $3.95 at Ruler Foods. I think that prices them right out of the market, and now I will shop Walmart's price to see if they have the better price, which I think they do because I know they aren't over $4, or at least they weren't. They were higher than Ruler. But not $4. In the meantime, Ruler has lost my business on these and I will now do some price checking. I own stock in both Kroger (Ruler's parent company) and Walmart, so I don't really care who gets the sale. But you won't get my money just because. That much I can assure you.

Better to check prices now, because food prices are going up every day.

I always check prices regardless of what prices are doing. It has saved me thousands of dollars a year just by knowing my prices and by knowing who has the best price, and only spending what I must.

@porwest - I do like you, but too many people never compare prices.

I'm buying more and more generic brands except for paper products. Walmart's paper products are inferior.

Walmart Great Value paper towels are made by Proctor & Gamble, the makers of Bounty. Great Value toilet paper is apparently made by a Canadian company, Kruger, who apparently makes White Cloud. Personally, my wife and I like Cottonelle and use that. Kimberly-Clark is responsible for that brand. From what I can find it looks like their facial tissue under the Great Value brand is also made by Proctor & Gamble who make Puffs. Like all generics made by major companies, they are slightly different, of course. I use Great Value paper towels and have no issue with them. We also use Great Value facial tissues.

@LindaOHio I guess for me it doesn't matter because I don't use them for much. Mostly as napkins. Maybe the occasional washing of a window.

Unfortunately, is no longer a Walmart here. We always compare prices because the prices vary in each store and we look for the cheapest ones.

I always price check now on things like butter, cheese, coffee as the price of those things have gone through the roof of late. A couple of supermarkets have weekend offers on fruit and veggies so I always check those out too.
