Red Hats in a small West Australian town

We’ve spent a couple of nights, though not consecutively, in Mukinbudin. For a small town, it has a few nice attractions. The caravan park is well-appointed. It has a laundry with 2 washing machines and two dryers. We saw these three red hats on a street corner so I guess there is a Ladies’ Red Hat Society in the town. The Red Hat Society (RHS) was founded in 1998 in the United States. Originally it was intended for women aged 50 plus but now it is open to women of all ages and is an international organisation.

@judyev Are you in the red hats? Sounds like it could be fun but I don’t have the figure for it.

No, I'm not. I know ladies who have the figure for it (!) and they enjoy the outings but I can never be bothered going out unless I have to.

@JudyEv - I researched and (according to Wikipedia) it seems the "Club" is also present in Italy. Incredibly I never heard of it.

@LadyDuck They wear red and purple. Did you find the poem that someone wrote about wishing she'd done more silly things before she got too old? Here is a link to it:

I think the original intention was for ladies to have a social 'club' just for themselves that didn't involve raising funds or looking after others or whatever.

They are good-looking hats but made of metal.

I saw on the Simpsons a group called the Cherry Tomatoes. Now I know where the idea came from

I read a book about the Red Society about 20 years ago. I thought it was cool. And so is your picture!

They formed a group in a nearby town and it was supposed to be just getting together and enjoying the company and outings etc which I think is the purpose of the society but it wasn't long before they were fund-raising for this, that and the other.

There is a Men's Shed in the town so I guess they did the hats.
