When one dreams a succession of images, energetic scenes, ideas, emotions, and sensations occur. Dreaming is one of the most fascinating and mystifying aspects of sleep. No wonder artists find ways to create tunes utilizing illusion, fantasy, sexual desires, and adventure in their DREAM-TITLED SONGS. Here are my "Lucky 7" the "music of my dreams"... 7. ALL I HAVE TO DO IS DREAM- THE EVERLY BROTHERS- Now that's a love song with some "Dreamy lyrics." Just a beautiful tune sung by these talented sibs reaching #1 in 1958. Fun fact: Don Everly's daughter, Erin, was married for a short time to Axl Rose of Guns N' Roses. He wrote the song "Sweet Child O' Mine" for her. 6. YOUR WILDEST DREAMS- THE MOODY BLUES- After hearing of bassist John Lodge's recent death at 82, had to include a Moodies song. This track was their 2nd highest charting song reaching #9. DO YOU KNOW THEIR HIGHEST CHARTING HIT? Sad fact: with Lodge's passing only Justin Haywood remains as the only surviving Moody Blues member. 5. DREAM LOVER- BOBBY DARIN- Songs were a lot more lyrically innocent during the late 50's (well except for Elvis), and this tune was no different with the singer wishing he could find the girl of his "dreams." The track reached #2 on the charts and Darin's follow up single "Mack the Knife" stayed at #1 in the US for 9 weeks, establishing the artist as a teen idol. Fun fact: Neil Sedaka played piano on this track. 4. DREAMS- FLEETWOOD MAC- Surprisingly, of all the great tracks recorded by this band "Dreams" was the only tune to reach #1. It almost never got recorded as the original Stevie Nicks demo was considered boring until Mick Fleetwood revised the song. WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE FLEETWOOD MAC SONG? 3. DAYDREAM BELIEVER- THE MONKEES- If you were old enough to watch the original series the show consisted of 4 actors who were playing a fictional musical band. Helped by professional musicians and writers who lent their talents to the performers vocals the pop group went on to become one of the most successful bands of the late 60's. The MONKEE'S LP's produced three chart-topping songs "Last Train to Clarksville", "I'm a Believer", and this "dream" selection. 2. DREAM ON- AEROSMITH- This was the first single Aerosmith released, reaching the #6 position on the Hot 100 in 1973. This song saved the band from being dropped from their record label. This tune was a ballad about the hunger to be somebody and dreaming big. Well, as they say, life imitating art as the group eventually achieved their "Dreams." TRIVIA CHALLENGE- NAME THAT TUNE! ***Can you figure out which song title it is from the clues provided... Words with quote marks provide valuable hints! 1. This song is about a married couple living in New York City during a cold winter and the man's wife "longing to return to California" where she grew up. This 1966 tune was the group's first successful single (#4). The group's follow up "Monday, Monday" shot straight to the #1 spot on the charts. This "American folk rock vocal group" recorded and performed from "1965 to 1968," until infidelities within and outside the group eventually led to their breakup. -Can you name the "Dream Titled" Mystery Song? Honorable Dream Mentions: “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)”—Eurythmics, “Dream Weaver”—Gary Wright, “In Dreams”—Roy Orbison. Any you can think of to add? Till the next one... Absolutely California Dreamin' by the Mamas and the Papas. I like your song choices. The BEST music ever came from the 60s and 70s...I will give a small shout out to the music from the 80s...there were some good songs then too.

“Dream Weaver” was the first one that came to my mind. And one that I like, which is definitely not your cup of tea is “Dreamlover” by Mariah Carey. I even remember the music video from being a teenager . Unfortunately, I don’t know the answer to your trivia question.

I have to wholeheartedly agree with you. Dreams are actually quite a bit of a mystery to me. So vivid, so real, and yet, often times, wildly weird. And how come we can't KNOW we're dreaming when we are? I mean, there have been certain dreams I have definitely wanted to control... Ahem...you know which ones I am talking about. lol As for your song choices for this post, every single one of them is a good 'un where I come from. I like every single one of them, and I am sure that somewhere, on one of my playlists, every single one of these resides in a place on them. As for the trivia question, the ONLY thing that comes to mind is California Dreaming. I am pretty sure Monday, Monday was done by the Mamas and the Papas, and California Dreaming was among one of the first few songs I learned on guitar. The first song I ever played was Peggy Sue, but California Dreaming wasn't that far off from that in my early days on the six-string. On a final note: Man, they sure don't make music nowadays like they used to.
