The image shows the sign ‘The Stacey Lamb Train’. I knew I’d heard of this before but couldn’t think where so off I went searching. Mr L J Stacey of Quairading in Western Australia produced fat lambs for market; so many in fact that each year a special train would transport the lambs from Badjaling railway siding to the processing plant at Robbs Jetty in Fremantle. The train ran annually from around 1942 to 1973 so no wonder I’d forgotten about it. In those years, 183,635 lambs were transported. In 1971, 10,028 lambs were moved in a single consignment, a world record at the time for a single farmer.

Yes, it's sad to think of all those little lambs becoming roasts and chops.

I’ve had lamb once, and I didn’t like it. I showed an allergy to it, so it doesn’t matter. Marzy doats!
