Freezer Habits That Stop the Takeaway

When the “shall we just order in?” mood hits, the only thing that saves me is having a ready-to-go equivalent in the freezer. I’m curious: what do you keep prepped so you actually skip the takeaway? My favorite is a ready-made curry kit: frozen curry base + ready portioned chicken + naan bread.

I’m not really sure. I should make better plans.

I always have something in the freezer that can be made easily. Things like frozen Salisbury steaks, chicken parmigiana and barbecue riblets, for example. It's always good to have an alternative when you're not really feeling like cooking. A lot of the time we order out because we just don't want to cook. It's rarely just because we want something out. If I get Chinese or a pizza, it's because I REALLY want that, and for no other reason.

@dianeScorpio I have no problem resisting takeaway - never had a nice one, although when I'm in Manchester in December for 5 nights we will avail ourselves of the Balti house where we will be staying. It's quite splendid.

I generally never have ready meals.
