I always add extra chopped garlic. I pretty much double it for pasta (or curry) and let it sizzle first so the sauce tastes like I actually cooked.

New month, new chance to start on that mylot jackpot. Wouldn't it be neat, if we really did have jackpots on here? I bet we could easily get new members then! Anyway, getting out of this popsicle stand today and going to the...

If your cupboards vanished today, which 3 shelf-stable items would you replace first? For me, it would be olive oil, dried pasta, and black pepper. (And I always have Parmesan in the fridge)

Sometimes I really like the simplicity of baked chicken thighs. That's probably why we eat them so often, despite the real reason being they're good, and you can season them up a few different ways, so it changes things up quite a...

Yes, it is definitely Winter time here now.
The fire was on most of yesterday and last evening.
Today is not quite so cold but I am feeling it as I don't want to put the fire on just yet.
So, I have had hard boiled egg chopped...

Hello, all!
It's 8:47 a.m. by my computer clock, and I have been up a while. I was looking at job listings on Craigslist, and now I need to get some breakfast and coffee.
I need to water the plants, and do more walking per the...

Name a true one-pan dinner you trust on a weeknight. Time, the main ingredient.
For me, it's Mediterranean Salmon Traybake, which takes 15–18 minutes at 220°C. Salmon fillets with cherry tomatoes, sliced courgette, olives,...

If I said I had pie every morning this week for breakfast would you think I was crazy?
Monday it was Caramel Apple Pie
Tuesday was Key Lime Pie and
Today it's Boston Creme Pie.
You might also wonder why I have so much pie in my...

Be honest: which jars do you actually use up before they go stale, and what do you cook that makes them disappear? Or do you just carry on using them anyway?

I brought some beef mince ( ground beef ) with me to the caravan....the idea being to make a pan of mince and onion.
I looked in the cupboard earlier and I must have taken the gravy granules home at the end of last season and not...

Be honest: do you ever skip the “proper” dinner and make breakfast instead? I’m talking eggs on toast, pancakes, a full fry-up, or beans and hash browns at 7 p.m.
If you’re a fan, what’s your go-to plate and why does it hit the...

When it’s a regular weeknight, how much do you usually spend per person on dinner at home? I’m curious where most people land and what that buys you. What’s your number, and what’s on the plate for that price?

I had made some chicken cooked with a bit of vinegar for my grandson. He had told me that he was coming yesterday.
As it was, he did not come. And he did not call. So I have a lot of food to put away. I also...

Diane Foster I get it — leftovers at the end of a long day feel like one more chore. Still, please don’t risk it. Pop them away now: into shallow containers so they cool fast, lids on, into the fridge within two hours. Label today’s date. Reheat only once and make sure...

When the “shall we just order in?” mood hits, the only thing that saves me is having a ready-to-go equivalent in the freezer. I’m curious: what do you keep prepped so you actually skip the takeaway? My favorite is a ready-made...

When I was growing up my mother had us try different foods, but only the ones she liked (she was and still is very picky). But if we didn't like it we didn't have to eat it. We ate what we liked. It was my grandparents home that...
