Riviera Beach Florida police officer Andrew Hinds was just doing his job of serving and protecting his community on Sunday morning October 26 when he was driving his patrol auto and he noticed a white pickup truck on fire outside of a home while two adults and two children were sleeping inside the home. Officer Hinds saw smoke coming from the home while the pickup truck was on fire. Thanks to the residents getting his attention of the house being on fire, Officer Hinds went knocking on the door to get the attention of the occupants of the home which was successful in getting the four members of the home out safely. Firefighters were able to douse the flames of the house quickly even though the pickup truck was destroyed in the fire. An investigation revealed that the cause of the fire was caused by an electrical issue inside of the battery of the truck. Link is msn.com/en-us/news/us/...

Glad they were rescued but I am surprised no one in the family smelled the smoke,

You are right since the family was sleeping inside of the home.

A person really never thinks of their stationary auto parked in their own driveway catching fire.

Perhaps, Governments should enforce the fitting of fire alarms to cars, and trucks too, as well as houses, especially with the recent fire risk in the batteries of electric cars. They were lucky some alert police officer was around to inform them of the fire on their premises, and so they were saved from greater harm from the fire.

That is true since a truck can be replaced but a life cannot be replaced.
