'Rounding up'

We all know cash is on the way out - whether we like it or not. I prefer to carry both cash and card. Payment systems are always collapsing and retailers cyber attacked so you always need cash in this digitally obsessed world. The more diofital things we do the more open we are to attack. I like the feeling of handing over your cash, taking the change and knowing your transaction is completely safe, job done. That's not always the case with card payments, especially from phones. They just make you feel guilty when you pay with cash now, alas. So when I pay with notes and coins I appreciate that the store checkouts take majority cash so I am an inconvenience as a cash player, change wise. So I tend to let them keep the change if a few cents or pence over if I dont quite have the right money and if we all did that their profits would rise with that tiny extra in the till, a bit like Richard Pryor stealing all the money in Superman 3 from those small transactions that dont seem to matter. Now, in return for my generosity with shopkeepers it would not be a bad idea if retailers also rounded up so when they dont quite have the right change to hand back to you they could simply 'round up' and give us what is close enough. In that way they get to avoid having too many coins in the till at the start of the day !

I always have cash on me. I go to a lot of yard sales when it is nice.

I always have cash on me. It just seems to be the wise thing to do.

The less we do financially the best both for our pocketbooks and for the threats that seem to be inevitable nowadays. I rarely see notes or coins. Haven't used cash for years. I am house bound so the more I can do online the better. it is a gamble I am willing to make. Yes, I think 'rounding up; would be nice. But life isn't always and some wouldn't mind doing that while others would scoff at the idea. It takes all kinds to make this world of ours.

I remember a quote I refer to often that said, "Every dollar we spend casts a vote for the kind of world we want to live in." It can apply to many things, but even to cash and whether or not we want it to stay or go. If more people use cash, cash will have a better chance of survival. As for me, I am down to pretty much using all cash for most things these days. Not only to do my part to keep it around, but because I find it easier to manage, and of course, when disaster strikes, those with cash have an advantage.
