Well, I was going out for a couple of days of foliage viewing, but instead I had to donate to the cause. ’Cause I need homeowners insurance and ’cause I need car insurance and ’cause I have property taxes. So I’ll take a drive through Cherokee Park instead and enjoy this song as I go. Hope you enjoy it, too! Grazing in the Grass - Hugh Masekela Hey, more cowbell!! I said that there were 25 instrumentals to top the Billboard pop chart, and this is one of them. Hugh Masekela (1939-2018) was the first South African to top the Billboard chart. After this was a big hit, Harry Elston of the group The Friends of Distinction wrote lyrics to it, and The Friends of Distinction made it a hit again in 1969. Elston passed away earlier this year. The 60s were loaded with trumpets, and this was one of the successful songs of that era. Grazing in the Grass Written by Philemon Hou Recorded by Hugh Masekela From The Promise of a Future, 1968 Much slower than the vocal version, but hey!

I can envision myself in a grand field, grazing in the grass, scanning for the best place to dig a very large hole so I can bury this one.

@porwest — that’s why John Prine’s sage advice to “blow up your TV, throw away your papers” is as true today as it was in 1970 when he wrote it.

Yeah, there are military secrets in the notes that you Australians can’t hear. Try this one. Those “official” sites have a tendency to not be available outside of the US for some reason.

Oh, I remember this song. I haven't heard it for a long time, so I will have to go listen to it. Sorry about all the insurances and taxes being due messing up your little excursion. I am sure you would like to go a few places before hard winter sets in. Do you sing when you drive? I always have music on when I drive by myself. And singing is always allowed in the car, in fact, it's nearly mandatory!
