My Coffee Deal Broken Down

It's no secret to anyone who drinks coffee—prices have shot up recently. Even the bargain bin option—Walmart's Great Value—has been running nearly $14 for a 40.3 ounce can last I checked. That's $5.56 per pound. Being the frugal caffeine addict I am, I've been hunting for deals. Because, let's be honest. I need my coffee! About a month ago I scored a steal at Ollie's. 9.8 ounce bags of single pot packs for $1.99. That breaks down to just $3.25 per pound. Not bad. And some folks around here have mentioned Cheap Ass coffee on Amazon for around $5 per pound. This deal beat that by a mile. When I picked up this Maxwell House stash, I grabbed several packs. Each one's labeled for a single pot, but I only use 5 tablespoons for a brew, so I stretch it way beyond what the bag suggests. Eventually though, I will burn through it. I've got about 6 packs left. So, I am back on the hunt. What's the best coffee deal you found lately?

I’m looking for Tasters Choice instant coffee as I’m halfway to finishing it. Prices seem to have gone up. I usually find it on sale at Duane Reade/Walgreens but not only is it not on sale, it’s not even in stock.

@porwest 14 oz jar used to be on sale at Walgreens/Duane Reade for $7.49 or $7.99. Now it’s $8.99 or $9.99. But regular prices are ridiculous. Regular price there is $14.99 and it was $15.99 at my supermarket.

@lovebuglena Ouch. That's highway robbery almost. That would put it at $9.13 per pound at $7.99, $11.42 a pound at $9.99 and $18.27 a pound at $15.99. No way I'd pay that.

I am sure you are spending a fortune on instant coffee even if it's "on sale." lol

It was the best price I have seen in a long time. Fingers crossed I find another one like that before I run out, but I kind of doubt I will.

I am well stocked up on coffee right now, so I haven't been searching for any deals lately, but when I do need to buy coffee again I will definitely try to hunt some bargains. We're probably going to see even more coffee price increases in the aftermath of hurricane Melissa. Jamaica, Haiti and Cuba are all big coffee producing regions, and the crops took a major hit after the hurricane pushed through the area.

The grocery store had buy 2 get 1 free the other week, on the bigger containers of Folger's, plus it was 20% off. I had a coupon for $2.00 off when you buy 2. I saved about $24.00 on them. I try to buy when it is on sale. It doesn't matter if it is Folger's, Maxwell House or the store brand. Like you I love my coffee.

They are definitely much harder to find, that's for sure. But they are out there.
