So I didn’t post about this but last week there was an incident at the end of Moms road.
A lady in her 20’s that had only recently moved into the area was followed home and attacked. I won’t go into details ….but the worst thing that can happen to a female.
The police had good cctv and they have caught the man responsible.
The local neighbourhood watch team have managed to get some free personal alarms.
I have managed to get one for myself …..as you know The Mister works away Monday to Friday so I am by myself. And one for Mom ….i need to know she is and feels safe as she is on her own too.
It is sad that we have to think about such things …..

Mom was given an alarm that hooked into her phone system. As long as she was within a few blocks of home, she could push the button on her necklace and an alarm would ring at the local police station, identifying who needed help and where they were located.
It was given to mom because she had a tendency to fall down and couldn't get back up again. Even when she did fall, she would crawl back home and people seeing her would stop and help her. She flat refused to ever push the button.
I'd get calls telling me that so-and-so had stopped to help her get up again. Once, the police actually found her crawling across her yard after falling a block away. They helped her get up and then called me. They wanted to take her to the hospital because she'd cut up her hands and knees crawling home but she refused. I left work and checked her over and told them she was okay and I'd bandage her up.
Mom was so infuriating at times!

My Nan had one that she wore around her neck ….if she fell or just needed help she could press it ….she would get a call to ask what the problem was ….if she didn’t answer they sent emergency services straight away.

I so agree ….we were given one at my last school …all the staff had to carry them at all times ….it was a real pain , but we felt safer.

That is way too close to home. I'd be looking for a personal alarm too. It's good you have some.

My heart goes out to the poor young woman. I'm glad you and your Mom now have an alarm.
