Traveling Anyone?

Last night I heard a favorite YouTuber is traveling from Minnesota to New York. But she's being smart. She's not flying and having to put up with the angry TMS people or nervousness in the sky due to the fewer air traffic controllers. She is going Amtrak. I envy her so much. What a romantic way to travel. I love the idea of traveling slow and enjoying the scenery. She figured the cost and with airlines charging $60 for each checked baggage and all the amounts will be about the same. Plus, she will have a roomette, complimentary meals and access to the nice lounges. I know that a lot of people travel for the holidays. I sure hope those who need to can find other modes of travel this time around. Unsafe skies can't add much to the holidays. Stay safe everyone.

And now with all the flight reductions, trying to schedule is a nightmare too. I've often thought a train trip would be so cool. I remember seeing something on FB that you could potentially take a train trip across the US for just over $200 - that's seriously good (if you have the time, that is). No traveling for us anytime soon . . . I'm fine with that.

I think it would be a bit more $$ now but relatively cheap compared to airflight. I won't be traveling any time soon either.

@much2say .......No TSA to hassle a person. That's well worth it right there.

@celticeagle True - but yah, cheaper than flying anyway. Less of a hassle too I'd hope.

We didn't have a car until I was 18; and we took all of our trips by bus or train. We never had a room though...just seats. It can be fun but also tedious.

When I was young, I wouldn't have minded. Now I sure would though.

@celticeagle If I were to travel by train today, I would have a room.

In the words of that Robbie Fulks song, “I never did like planes.” I like me and my luggage in the same place at the same time. Plus, I enjoy the spontaneity of driving. That’s how I ended up at the Grand Canyon earlier this year…I certainly didn’t START with that as my goal!!!

I totally agree. Driving is nice. I just don't do it anymore and neither of the kids drive. My ex and I used to enjoy taking drives and ending up in some cool spot. Lots of adventures.

Not too many get out of plane crashes alive.

Ugh! Yes, that is a fact. I have not flown very much in my life, and I don't care to do anymore.
