So, I hadn't seen the movie for years, and had forgotten almost all of it, but it was gritty and grimy. That was the movie that featured an almost political assaination which was the inspiration behind Reagan's Shooting. Hinkley in his delusional state wanted to impress his "girlfriend" Jody Foster. Anyway, the movie starred a very young Robert Deniro. Peter Boyle as a younger man was in it. Another person the then beautiful Cybill Shepherd was also in it. They don't make movies like this anymore, and I am sure it was shockingly violent for its day.

@snowy22315 - I saw it when it came out and I cannot say that I really liked it.

Yeah, DeNiro looked like a kid. Peter Boyle was still bald, but had dark hair on the sides. Cybill Shepherd looked very young of course. Jody ,Foster was a girl.

If I could use one word to describe it, I would say intense.

I have to say I didn't "get" that movie, and I certainly didn't like it. The one thing I liked about it was the quoting of Kris Kristofferson's song "The Pilgrim Chapter 33" ("He's a walking contradiction, partly truth and partly fiction").

I saw it when it first came out. I don’t recall liking it much. I was young. Maybe I might try it again one day.
