Got My New State ID

I had gotten a postcard from the Department of Motor Vehicles a few months ago saying I might be able to get my State ID renewed online. My birthday was the 6th so I am only 4 days expired. You don't want to know how expired my grandson is. My daughter's isn't due for renewal until 2027. I'm sure we will have to go into the DMV to get those renewed. Is your DMV set up the same as ours? You have to go into the site and set up a time to be there? I guess that is organizational for them. When we went last (four years ago) there were scads of people, and they were a little behind. It was not too bad but way too many people around for my liking. But this old lady got her state ID renewed online. It was pretty hassle free. It always makes me nervous clicking around on state sites. So, I was glad when all the appropriate pages potted up and I was told I would get my new card in 7-10 business days. The more I can do online the better. Still not able to get pictures to be added.

You can do it online here, but there are restrictions. As we age, our appearance tends to change. So, You can typically do it once in your lifetime. They just use your previous photo. However, given id cards last a good eight to ten years, unless you're someone like us, where we go every year to renew our tag, then you don't have to go very often.

That's a good thing. I'll see how it goes in 4 years.

@celticeagle I never let mine expire. You never know. And, now it's more important than ever to have an up-to-date licience or I.D. card.

@kaylachan ........I agree. We need to get up and get my grandsons renewed. The place is clear across town and would cost us ALOT in an Uber to and from. It's about 6 miles away. That's between $40 and $50 to and back. That would pay for both IDs.

I'm glad you got renewed without a hassle and hope your new card arrives on schedule. That isn't how ours are done in Missouri. I had to renew my driver's license in 2022 but it's good until 2028. (I didn't get the new Real Id because I don't need to fly anywhere and we don't need it to get into State buildings. I've never been in a Federal building that requires me to have the Real Id.) I haven't tried to add any pictures yet. I hope it works fine when I do add one.

I sure hope I don't have to go into any Federal Buildings. I just got the regular ID, not the Real. It would cost the three of us $75 to get them. It's not like we go anywhere to need one. And my daughter got off jury duty when they called on her because she is my care giver.

@DaddyEvil .......I remember years ago being on jury duty. I knew the guy and didn't even realize it until he made the connection and told his lawyer. It was rather embarrassing.

What do they do about your picture? Our DMV isn't bad if you go around 2 pm in the middle of the week.

From what I can gather they let you use the previous one this one time. I may have to go in the next time I renew my card.

@celticeagle That would be nice if I could renew online. Maybe by the time my license expires, I will be able to.
