This word, Sir, is quite sweet for me to hear . I was a teacher in a high school and I used to hear this word of address a hundred times every day. But this respectful word of address has brought down enough stress upon a lot of people. Special Intensive Revision of voter lists in India is being conducted to correct voters list and root out unlawful voters. This idea of special investigation is good for our country but it is also bringing a lot of stress upon the people. Some people have fallen ill and some have even committed suicide. I find people going about under stress. I too am not free like before. I don't know if my name would find place in the final voters' list.

I am from India so I can answer this to some extent I think. For starters, Sir is ancient....we need to grow out of it once we leave school. Problem is we never do. Coming to the Special Intensive Revision...........I think we Indians display double standards. We want our kids to go to the US, UK, Germany, Canada, France, Australia, New Zealand, and settle there...we are fine with that. But we are not fine with others coming into our country. Lawfully or unlawfully is another matter. I mean, there are many Indians who have used dubious means to reach the US. Right? So we need to make up our minds. We need to stop sending our kids out, if we don't want to let others kids in our country. To me, it is as simple as that.

I totally agree with you on the double standards we Indians nurture. While we are glad to send our young people go to countries like US, UK, Canada, Australia but our leaders describe people supposedly from neighbouring countries as " ghuspaithiye" and push them out of the country.
