So when we went shopping yesterday Mom had to go to the pharmacy and order her next lot of tablets.
The pharmacist hide around the corner for a few minutes, then returned, saying “ you don’t need any more heart tablets as you should have plenty of those left “
Mom told him she didn’t have a heart tablet.
“ yes, you do, prescribed by the hospital in August “.
Now, we did take her to the hospital for several checks on her heart but have heard nothing …..usually no news is good news and they don’t need to take action. She was told she would be sent for if needed.
He scuttled back around the corner and after several minutes came back with a package .
“ These are your heart tablets , they were on the shelf “
Mom explained she didn’t know anything about them. He looked at the date on the package …..SEPTEMBER ……yesturday was NOVEMBER 13TH !!!
Why were they allowed to simply sit in the shelf all that time !
On reading the notes inside, it now seems that she can’t take them anyway as they clash with other medication she takes.
Later this afternoon The Mister and I will take her back to the pharmacy and talk to them about the tablets.
She can’t get an appointment with her own Doctor.
Medical issues are serious !

I hope everything works out for her. Those are serious mess-ups by the pharmacy and by the doctor who didn't check her other meds before prescribing something she can't take.

The Doctor at the hospital also said in his report that she could walk a mile with no problems and regularly exercises …..
She is 87, asthmatic can’t walk far and doesn’t go to the gym….surprised !

@Traceyjayne So the doctor was just going by how she looks instead of actually talking to her? Nice!

That is just crazy to think she was supposed to have had heart tablets all this time and wasn't getting them

Oh dear that is worrisome. It sounds like someone needs to keep on top of the doctor and pharmacy.

@traceyjayne You really need to be on the ball about these things - mistakes happen as does miscommunication.

That is certainly a bit of a worry especially the bit about the tablets being on the shelf for so long.

I had the same problem with a dentist who prescribed a pill that was in the same family as one that gave me a bad reaction. I stopped going to her. I hope you can get your Mom's medication straightened around. That's very important.
