Never ever leave your things unattended

Yesterday, my roommates and I went to Divisoria (a place where you can buy cheaper things and fruits). When we were about to go home, we decided to stop by the mall near our place. We decided to eat at a fast food chain. While waiting for our orders, a beggar came asking for money. I didn't mind her at first since my roommates and I were busy discussing something. When I saw the beggar opening the bag of the customer who had left her bag on the table, I immediately called her. But she was busy chatting with another man, so I stood up and called her attention again, asking her and telling her that the beggar was opening her bag. That's when she immediately ran to the beggar and grabbed her bag; the beggar almost got her wallet. The beggar then started to become violent and kept shouting. The fast food chain had no guard, and the staff were so slow that they didn't even help the girl; they just continued with their normal routine and left their customer to deal with the problem. After 20 minutes, a police officer came and arrested the beggar. After the arrest, the owner of the bag looked at us. I thought she would thank us, but she just gave us a cold look, as if it was our fault that she had left her bags unattended. Anyway, it's a simple reminder for us to always not leave our things unattended.

It was very rude of her not to thank you for the help. She could have lost everything in the bag if you hadn't made the effort to get her attention.

@Soobinah That would have irritated me as much as her not thanking me if I had helped her. But, I might have made a rude gesture, too.

That's human nature for you. Blame someone else instead of blaming yourself. But, yeah. Depending on where you live.... theaft happens all of the time.

@Soobinah She doesn't see it that way. She sees it as you poking into her business. I don't know where you're from, but if you aren't from the U.S. being outspoken isn't as common in other counteries. Yes, you prevented a theft, but again, she'd rather find fault elsewhere, then deal with the fact that she made a mistake. It has nothing to do you personally, but displacing anger is what people do when they don't know how to take responsibility for their actions.

Crime seems to be increasing everywhere. In my country (U.S) in certain states the police would arrest the beggar and then he would be released back on the street to steal from someone else. Those states have justice systems run by progressive liberals who do not enforce the law. Very sad!
