Q of the Day: Acts of Kindness or Good Deeds What’s the best thing you’ve ever done for anyone? How did it make you feel? Probably my biggest act of kindness was when my mom was in the hospital due to a stroke and needed to have a chest x-ray to determine her ability to swallow. She was terrified to have the test, so I volunteered to wear a radiation vest and sit right next to her while the tech did the x-ray. I held my mom's hand and told her I wouldn't let any harm come to her. I felt satisfaction I could do something to keep my mom calm and help her through the exam. Mom's sacrifice so much for their kids over the years and to be able to reciprocate in some way provided me with fulfillment and gratification. Can you think of anything you'd like to share? My mother-in-law in Latvia was hit by a car. As a result she got cancer on the pleura. My husband, of course her son Martin and I took her to have water removed from her lungs every time she began to suffer as the cancer progressed. We took her in to live with us because whe needed constatn watchign and were with her to the very end,

That was so sweet of you. My mom and dad were going to buy new weddings rings for their 25th anniversary since my mom’s no longer fit due to arthritis, and something had happen to my dad’s. A household repair not covered by insurance put a stop to their plans. I had just gotten a small settlement for a car wreck I had, and I used the money to buy them new wedding rings.

When my brother divorced and I knew he and his daughter were home alone for the Christmas Holidays, I invited them and my Mom to our home and we celebrated all together Christmas and New Year.

@dgobucks226 When we moved here from Switzerland the Charity came three times to our home with pretty large vans, I gave them books, kitchen stuff, chairs, tables, armchairs, everything too large to be moved. My husband and I cannot donate blood and are old enough to need help to carry heavy objects or needing help with chores. As no one helps, we do what we can.

@LadyDuck Understood. I find donating to charity is a nice way to be generous to those worse off than myself. There are people who can't afford to buy clothes, furniture or just everyday household stuff. Donating actually benefits me as it helps me declutter and still pass along useable things for others.

That was very kind of you. We took care of my husband's parents for a couple of years. That's the biggest thing I could think of...
