Firefighters rescue an elderly man who was inside of a house fire

Firefighters from the Fair Lawn Fire Department answered an emergency call from a concerned citizen who reported seeing a fire on Monday afternoon November 17. Two firefighters from the Fair Lawn Fire Department arrived on scene when they saw an elderly man who was on the second floor of the home not being able to walk on his own who needed assistance to leave the home. The fire was seen on the first floor of the home with the door being closed which prevented the fire from spreading throughout the home. The firefighters had to execute the rescue of the elderly man since the conditions were hard to see due to the smoke inside the home. Two residents were taken by an ambulance to Valley Hospital with injuries. One firefighter was treated at the scene of the fire. The fire was doused in about 15 minutes.
