Goodwill vs Acme: The differences between both places

Hey there Mylotter friends. Better late than never on sharing my thoughts and the differences between Goodwill and Acme, since I've been there for two months next weekend. While I do have a 15-minute break in the break room, there's no lockers at Acme. You have our stuff behind customer service, under your register, or in the break room. And there's a scheduled time on the roster for you to take a break. I tend to go to the bathroom before my shift and during my break. Though the hours are consistent at Goodwll, it varies at Acme, when I've worked 14-22.5 hours. (it's twelve this week and probably next week.) I automatically have Sundays and Mondays off, so I don't have to worry about calling the bus on Fridays on those days. It's just for Saturdays. I mostly work Fridays and Saturdays, a few Wednesdays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. I started out with late hours for the first month (1-5, 4-9, 2-7, 3 to 8, 3-9, 5-9). But now I'm done before or around 6 with these hours (11-5, 12-6, 10-4). As for requesting days off for appointments, at Goodwill, you have a slip to send it out two weeks in advance. Here at Acme, you have a request book up until the end of the year. You just put your name, date, and the reason why--no need for the time. I've done it only for the zoo this month to finish the year for me, which is the only way to work around it, and good to know for the future events next year. And I've done it for doctor's appointments too. At Goodiwll, I have 10 weeks of training as a cashier, and was confident at week two, though no opportunity presented itself. But it helped me get to where I am now at Acme. After one week of training (3 days), I was ready to be a cashier on week two. Though the managers handled the till for the cashiers, you get to go to the till machine before and end shift. And at Goodwill, you logged on and off the computer at ADP, whereas before having my prints for biometrics to punch in and out, and for breaks, at Acme. You get to wear whatever you want at Goodwill, though you wear a uniform at Acme with a name tag (even on a lanyard.) And you can wear make-up and nail polish too. Thanks for letting me share these thoughts with you. I'll be around this busy work weekend to comment and post when I'm able to do so.

I think overall Acme will suit you better. You won't have that back breaking sorting to do.
