Today's starting off well.

George and I got up about the same time we always have, despite him being up an extra hour last night. There's leaking coming from the stoma, but I was told to expect that. Especially on the first day. Later this afternoon, I can take off the dressing and we can clean the area, if needed. But, otherwise leave it open to air and left alone. It should heal on it's own.
George is sipping on Pepsi, but waited until this morning to ask for it. So, that's a good thing. He also asked for some yogert, too. And I'll see if I can get him taking other things as well. Despite having no tube, he said he felt full. I like hearing that.

@kareng He has ups and downs, but I think the leaking is starting to tapper off. I just have to get George to leave it alone, because he wants to scratch at it and rub at it.

I think his stomach, if anything, has gotten bigger. When you bypass the swollow system you're pumping stuff directly into the stomach. it can enlarge that way. But like I've been telling dctors and nurses, I can't reasse bad eating habits.

@celticeagle Yeah, I meant to send a message on friday, but George's also thinking about going to Hummna-approved local providers, and using Walgreens I guess for his meds, but we haven't made the switch, yet.

Well, I would've really pushed a little harder if we took out the tube too soon. If things had worked out for us months ago, when his oral intake was near-zero, then I would've had to push harder. But, it's back to where it was before the stroke, and I don't see it changing. I'll need to let the nutrition department at the va know.
