Discovered this announcement in my email from The New York Times/New York Today The Rev. Dr. Katrina Foster was talking about her new job, overseeing 160 Lutheran congregations in and around New York City. She is the first woman and the first openly gay person to serve as the bishop of the Metropolitan New York Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the Lutheran equivalent of a diocese in some denominations. I was raised as a Lutheran, and my family and I attended the Latvian Lutheran Church in Brooklyn, New York. Our pastor was a man who also was an immigrant from Latvia and was a close friend of my parents. Times sure have changed.

@snowy22315 I have nothing against her choices in life but just not for a pastor, I would think.

It is a more accepting society now with individual choices respected as long as they do not harm society.

More power to her and those like her. I am always happy to hear of women making their way in places usually only available to men.

My husband was Lutheran; and we were married in the Lutheran Church. Yes, things sure have changed.
