My last few posts have been about New Norcia, a monastery town in Western Australia. One of the many talented monks who lived and worked there was Dom Moreno, an organist and composer of note. At one point, he was sent to Germany to oversee the building of an organ for the church. The organ was built in his design in 1922 in Munich. After being displayed at the German Trade Exhibition, it was shipped to Australia in 24 zinc-lined cases. It was installed in The Abbey Church of the Holy Trinity in mid-1923 and refurbished in 1978. At the time, the organ was considered very advanced. Its refurbishment included removing candle grease from the mouths of the pipes. It is still played regularly.

I love the sound of a real organ. I remember when I walked in the Church for my wedding and the large organ was playing. I think it's a magic sound.

@JudyEv - I agree, I noticed that my Dad was ready to cry, so I tried to smile and move on.

I had no music as I walked down the aisle. Organ music would have been nice.

I was lucky enough to have organ music and a small choir sang too.

That is such a cool thing to think about. I saw a special on how to clean an organ so I can’t imagine the process of cleaning an antique organ.

I think the organ you refered to is the pipe organ, which is used especially in churches.I haven't seen it so far.
