Trying Something New

Last night, my husband signed me up for a Udemy class to keep me busy while he’s away—and it turned out to be a voiceover masterclass! I’ve always been curious about voiceover work, so I got pretty excited when he enrolled me.
We started watching the lessons together, and the instructor shared the basic software and equipment that beginners usually need. Now we’re figuring out which room in the house would be the best spot for me to practice recording, and my husband is also checking what tools I might need to start this new adventure.
This is something totally new for me, and I’m really excited to see where it goes and whether it could turn into a hobby I’ll truly enjoy.
Have you ever tried something completely new just out of curiosity? How did it turn out for you?

@LadyDuck I might give it another try once I’m more settled with voiceover. Maybe practicing a new language will even help with speaking confidence too!

I’ve tried a couple of free language apps before, and they’re surprisingly good. It’s nice when you can dip your toes into something new without spending anything. Maybe I’ll get back into languages once I figure out this whole voiceover thing!

@annierose - You can use a microphone with Duolingo for speaking exercises. When I still lived in Switzerland I used Duolingo for German.

Yeah, it actually worked out perfectly timing-wise. I thought I’d just be trying to kill time while he’s away, but now I’m genuinely excited about learning something new.

Hey, that’s great! I’m so glad he thought to enroll you in something you’re so interested in. Please make sure to keep us updated on how it goes.
I went to a building class at Home Depot once. They started off showing us how to make simple things, like a small side table, and it was fun. But classes were after dark, and also the friend I was going to the classes with me decided to quit going, so I did too. But it was fun to give something so foreign to me, a chance.

Aww thank you! I’ll definitely share updates. I remember Home Depot and it is a surprise that they offer free classes there. My husband is thinking of buying a Christmas tree from Home Depot too.

I tend to play it safe, staying in my comfort zone. But it's been a while since I've done anything new.

I usually stay in my comfort zone too. Honestly, that’s why this whole voiceover thing feels so big for me. Maybe something new will pop up for you soon too! Sometimes the fun opportunities show up when you’re not even looking.

Rock climbing and hiking sound like such fun ways to stay active and explore. I’ve always admired people who jump into something so adventurous. Do you still go often?

@BACONSTRIPSXXX That’s awesome! Indoor rock climbing sounds like a great way to keep doing what you love even when the weather gets too cold.
