We're Touring The Memory Care Facility This Afternoon

United States
November 25, 2025 6:03am CST
Hubby and I made an appointment to tour and learn about the Memory Care facility where his mom will eventually reside. The director was supposed to email me some information yesterday but she didn't. Let's hope she remembers our appointment this afternoon. We don't know if mother-in-law is going to fight it (probably) or give in to the family and doctors' requests that she move into Memory Care the first of the year. We're not telling her until after her birthday in early January. I hope it's a nice clean pleasant facility.

Did they remember the appointment? Kind of a cue being a memory facility lol

I hope all goes well with the tour. My MIL was moved to the memory care wing in her senior facility last year. I'm really not sure if or how my SILs prepped her for it. My MIL tends to not fight things, but for a while she was apparently confused about not being able to "get out" of the locked doors area on her own.

She may need to be a little farther gone before transferring her goes semi-smoothly. You don’t want her to get kicked out for being violent. OBVIOUSLY, you guys know better than I do though. I just remember my grandmother being in assisted living, and they also had a memory care wing. You had to be so far gone even wearing a bra on the outside of your clothing didn’t get you into memory care. I’ll be praying for you guys.

My uncle was in one. It seemed fine. One thing that seemed peculiar was that alot of the patients were walking around this track they had there almost like zombies. He was doing that when we were trying to talk to him. I doubt seriously he knew who we were. The nurses all really liked my uncle though and said "He's such a nice man." He was, but not nice like my dad..who is extremely nice like my grandfather.

I hope it's a nice facility too. Keep your eyes and ears open! You know the problems we had with hubby and rehab.
