Two and a half hours I sat in a theatre tonight, two and a half hours without getting up off my chair. We’re here in Edinburgh to see my daughter perform in a dramatisation of the book “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time”. Needless to say she shone, but I’m now suffering in legs and buttocks. It was worse than sitting in a plane. Very good night though. And Edinburgh is a fine city on a cold November day. The sun shone all day and when darkness fell at about 4 o’clock we wandered among the stalls of the Christmas market. Everything was lit up and mulled wine was on hand to offer sustenance. She’s as handsome city, Edinburgh. The imposing granite buildings speak of previous wealth and prestige, serious and stern. What a pity those buildings now play home to crappy coffee shop chains - you know the kind. So humiliating for such fine buildings.

I'm glad your granddaughter's performance was good! And yes, when I have to sit for that long, my fundament is also numb by the end.

Somehow I've ended up with two copies of that book. I'm glad you enjoyed the performance even if it was a long time to sit.

Your daughter must have done so well! Edinburg sounds like a wonderful place to visit; I can only hope to get close to it someday.
