Sticker shock at Manhattan Bagel this morning

I used to stop there most mornings for a toasted rye bagel with cream cheese on my way to work. I haven't done it much at all over the past year and a half but every now and then I treat myself. This morning I decided today was going to be one of those days.
I walked in, gave my order (bacon, egg, and cheese with salt and pepper on a toasted rye bagel) to the guy who said he was happy to see me. When it came time to pay, though, I was floored. A breakfast sandwich that used to cost like $5.50 was now $8. Yikes! 
Yes I can afford it. But I also can make my own BEC bagel sandwiches here (including homemade bagels) for much less. I will not be in a hurry to stop there for one again anytime soon.

I was stuck in that stupid meeting with the principal for my entire lunch period (my choice to do it then b/c that's when the head building rep was available) so I didn't eat lunch and forgot to get it from the fridge in the faculty room. I was hungry by like 1pm today and briefly considered DoorDashing something but then I was like "just eat the leftover sides". So that is what I did.

are your bagels made in China and subjected to tariffs? 
Yow, that’s expensive…and it’s not the cost as much as the principle (as opposed to the principal you were having a hard time with today).

That sure is a lot for a breakfast sandwich, It does sound good but then best to make at home,

Eating out is crazy expensive. We just can’t. You hardly ever eat out, I am glad that you treated yourself. I do wish it was more affordable.
