Predators and the Trauma They Cause

A man was on a show this evening I was watching who admitted to being sexually abused by a couple different women when he was a young boy. He went on to discuss the trauma and not being able to report it. It made me think back to a response I got in one of my posts when I spoke about the women who had come out years after Epsteins abuse. This person didn't believe some of the women. I have to say that there is an evil dynamic between abuser and abused. These abusers are experts at knowing the type of person that they can prey on. Ones that have no father, that come from low income backgrounds and weird family dynamics. They tell them they will do this or that for them and these types believe. Then the evil happens and they are left feeling they can't believe in anyone. It must have taken a lot of prodding to get them to admit it happened and to come and join the others. Please don't think for one minute the trauma isn't real. Different people act differently, and just because they don't act the way you think they should doesn't mean it didn't happen. They may have felt like they are the only victim and when they learn they weren't it really changes the entire dynamic. This type of thing hurts to the core.

Eva makes a good point. Sometimes the victims are blamed.

The abused has often been blamed. Questions like how were you dressed or how were you acting to put the blame on them.
