It is hard to come by any documentation of the earliest snowman. A book entitled "The History of the Snowman" by Bob Eckstein did have documentation of the first snow man going back to 1380. The author searched artistic depictions in European museums, art galleries, and some libraries. He found that Michelangelo was commissioned in 1494 by Piero de' Medici to make a snowman. In the collections of the National Library of Wales is the earliest photograph of a snowman in 1853 by a Welsh photographer, Mary Dillwyn.

You mean the snowman I made in 1966 wasn't the first?

I've never thought about someone having to make the first snowman.

I don't think they did make them back in the Stone Age though.
