Yes, I can list my personal favorites in an order. Not knowing Linda’s precise tastes, I don’t know if I’d be right (and, as I said, I didn’t consult her in picking the songs on her half of the list…I just know THIS one would NOT be included!
). So here’s the first one from my pick of songs with “boogie” in the title..and Linda? NO!!!!!
#15: Boogie Grass Band - Conway Twitty
This one probably had Bill Monroe shaking his head in disgust.
He was probably more disgusted because Ronnie Reno, the son of the bluegrass banjo maestro Don Reno, wrote it.
Interestingly, Ronnie Reno wrote this specifically for Conway Twitty. Twitty knew what to do with it, too: it was #1 in Canada and #2 in the US.
While Monroe is mentioned in the same breath as the Allman Brothers (“I love to hear Bill sing about Kentucky, and the Allman Brothers’ ‘Ramblin’ Man’”), it’s probably not something he approved of. Monroe was a purist, so the notion to “put the music all together” wouldn’t have set well with him. Having said that, he DID re-record “Blue Moon of Kentucky” with a faster tempo once Elvis Presley had a hit with an upbeat rendition.
And, honestly, while this song has “boogie” in the title, it’s a little more country-rock than boogie. A common theme in my half of the countdown.

Especially when he’s not on Family Guy!

He’s generally not a favorite. There are some songs of his that I love, and I enjoyed the duets with Loretta Lynn.
