This song has so many things to think about that keep multiplying; it gets me quite confused. Anyway, this is an English Christmas carol and nursery rhyme. It is known as a classic example of a cumulative song. Which simply means that it is a type of song where each verse builds upon the previous ones by adding new elements.  There are many melodies associated with this song, but the best known was derived from an arrangement of a traditional folk melody from 1909 by English composer Frederic Austin. Traditionally, the Twelve Days span from December 25 to January 5, celebrating the Nativity and leading up to Epiphany. And now for a delightful animal version of this song

The 12 days of Christmas are correctly those from Christmas until The Epiphany day. All those who celebrate Epiphany know, but I noticed that many think the 12 days of Christmas come before Christmas, that is wrong.

Sadie watched this compilation with me, and by the end her nose was up to my phone screen, tilting her head left and right…
