Boney M Carols are sweet but very nostalgic

While growing up I used to enjoy Christmas carols especially done by the Boney M group. They were full of life. “Mary’s Boy Child..” was my favourite! Well apart from listening to the songs I went far to make a follow up of how the great group members are. This was way long after I was through with studies and had become a fully grown up man. I learnt that the three ladies had gotten really old and the gentleman with afro hair had passed on. This Christmas season, I still listen to their carols but they give me a very nostalgic feeling. This morning of 21.12.2025 I listened to “By the Rivers of Babylon…”

Feeling nostalgic with old memories is natural. Good that you still enjoy their carols. The group has definitely created something beauty for people to cherish even when they are old or even gone.

I often forget that well-known singers and film stars all get older just as I do. It comes as a surprise sometimes to learn their age.

It sounds like it was a group that performed with a lot of feeling. I tend to get nostalgic about those things too.

As I have read Boney M. the song “By the Rivers of Babylon…” started to play in my head. They had some great songs, "Daddy Cool", Rasputin, Ma Baker. Great music, great singers.
