Do you make a New Year's resolution?

I know a lot of people always do, and then some never do. I guess it's just what people are passionate about. I don't make them--I used to, but seemed to not follow through for very long, I was always so busy, and I have a tendency to put myself on the back burner at times.
It seems that many people I know dig in their heels and are determined to lose weight or get healthier or exercise more and make that their top New Year's resolution. Exercise gyms, clubs, groups, and exercise equipment are big deals for many every January 1st. The big exercise gyms have their giant surge every January--and it's reported that by March or April, it's all down to a dull roar and they are back to their normal number of enrollments.
Eating healthy, managing money better, starting projects or finishing them, are big goals for some. One of the top resolutions is making more time for family and friends.
I personally tried the New Year's resolution for weight loss more times than I can count, years ago. I finally did it on my own, and it wasn't a New Year's resolution.
My Dad was a heavy smoker for some years. He started smoking while in the Army and at war...they actually supplied cigarettes in all the mess kits for the soldiers! He came home hooked and couldn't seem to shake off his dependency. When I was about 15, he made a resolution on New Year's and quit cold turkey. He never smoked again. I know it was really hard for him but he did it. He is the only person I know that has been able to quit smoking as a resolution, I was so proud of him.
Are you making a resolution or two this year?

I don’t make resolutions, and haven’t for several years. I just know I won’t keep them. I did make one good resolution I did well on keeping a few years ago. I told myself If it was at all possible, when someone asked me to do something, I’d say yes. I’d push myself to find a way, whether it be the movies or coming over to watch a game. I didn’t say yes every time, that’s not possible, but I sure did better that year.

Amber, I used to say yes...more times than I should have. In the process, I forgot to take care of myself, because I was way too busy with family, work, and all the yes things I agreed to. I cut it back and that helped.

In my younger years, I did try. But it never worked for me, so now I just do my own thing.

I gave that stuff up. I know what I need to work on.

We all have something we need to work on, I think. It’s because we are humans. I need to work on some things, too.

Nope, might set some goals, maybe, but no resolutions

I have rarely heard of any resolutions that actually worked out for the person making them. I set goals throughout the year, it doesn't have to be New Year's for me to do that.
