Solstice/ Yule

This morning after I fed the cats and managed to get both Beau Teak and Fred to take their meds, I waded into making pie dough. Hubby pitted Bing cherries last night. This morning I woke enough to make the pie crust and dump cherries into it.
Pure bliss sunshiney morning though the wind started to rise and I knew the sun was going to be kaput soon.
We drove north to a little community and met up with the folks we have writer's meetings with. I loved driving in the rural area. We got out of our car and right behind their house a deer walked around, happily snacking on underbrush. Very peaceful.
We all had a warm and delightful gathering. Our host made chocolate chip cookies so everyone snacked on them before eating pie.
The rain came down in huge buckets on the way home. I had a bit of trouble driving due to the glare on the wet roads from oncoming vehicles but I drove mostly on a back road so there wasn't as many cars to deal with.
Today will be our only Yule/ Christmas social gathering. I enjoyed teasing one of the folks about her pie cutting skills. Hubby seemed to really enjoy himself, too.
