No traditional letters

Although today the traditional letters are less popular, but it's still a shocking news to hear that in Denmark they will stop the service to delivery traditional letters from next year. And instead they will delivery parcels. So probably later you have to still send a parcel even if it's just a letter inside. And of course it shall be also much more expensive sending a parcel rather than a letter. It's a bit disappointing. It seems that in the future the stamps will be gone, too.

Traditional letter delivery has stopped here quite long back. If you have to , you have to use services like parcel and speed post. I really miss the old days when handwritten words delivered the messages. It had a soul connection.

The letter delivery continues in Denmark, another company will take over domestic letter deliveries.

That's so bad the traditional letter delivery has stopped in Bangalore. Here in very far away places which the express can't reach, then the normal post service is still available.

This piece of news is only partially correct. Denmark's PostNord, will stop delivering letters at the end of 2025 but Dansk Avis Omdeling (DAO), will take over domestic letter deliveries. So the letter delivery continues with another company.

That's a good news as the post service is still available. Last year I sent a small parcel to Denmark. It's my mom's crocheted doll to my friend. Hard to believe that the post in Denmark asked my friend to pay for it. It's very inconvenient as I sent it by international post parcel rather than express company. And it's a personal gift rather than a commerical thing. Especially it is just a small parcel as the international post parcel cost has increased a lot.

@LadyDuck Sad to hear that. As sometimes it can be inexpensive personal gifts from overseas.

@youless We also paid in Switzerland when we received a package that came from outside the European area. Customs duty are collected by the Postal service.

Are you serious? I had not heard that, and it’s terrible. I’m really sorry to hear that.

I read it online. I am afraid sooner or later the traditional letters may totally stop all over the world.

Yes, the traditional letters seem to be outdated ! Since there is Wechat where people can make voice or video calls ,group chat, there is no need to write a letter.

You are right. But sometimes we may still send the paper things and sending it by post is an option.

I hope the letter writing will never disappear. That would be sad.

I had an idea our postal delivery service was going to close but I haven't heard any more news about that since.
