I just started the scratch-off lottery ticket thing about halfway through 2025 but I think I'm going to stop buying them in 2026.
I mostly stayed even until through the holidays they ran out of $1 and $2 scratch-offs because people were buying them for Christmas presents, so I started buying the $10 ones.
That went okay too for a while and I would win $25 or $50 and enough to buy my next tickets.
But I'm finally starting to lose money while riding even the last 6 months, so it's time to stop.
My guess is I've lost about $25 overall. Not bad for 6 months worth of fun.

I agree once you start losing, it is time to stop but perhaps after a while you can try a few more.

Yeah, I'm never happy when I lose money. The couple of times I've been to a casino, I tried to stop when I was on the plus side.

I have done a lot of reading over time about what the Bible says about gambling, etc. I was taught that the money in my hand is a sure thing...but when you gamble with it, it's not. I would imagine if most people kept strict tract of how much they spent per year vs. how much they actually won, it probably isn't that impressive. My neighbor spends about $20 a week playing the lottery. That's $1, 040 in a year's time. Umm...no thanks, cannot do that and don't want to. I know you can do that if you want to,.,,it's just not my thing.
