What Did You Do for Christmas?

We don't have children and didn't have any travel plans (his family is in Japan, and mine is pretty far away), so we went out to dinner and then went to a local university that was doing a free drive-through light show on its very large campus. It was a very long wait in line to get in (about an hour), but it was free. This is one of the most beautiful university campuses I have ever seen, and its large, architecturally impressive buildings looked even prettier all decorated for the holidays. Apparently they had the largest and second-largest Christmas tree in the state. Also, there was a life-sized creche that was extremely impressive, featuring both camels and dromedaries (one-humped and two-humped camels) as well as many other animals and life-sized human figures (holy family, kings, shepherds). There may have been an angel, too, but there was a lot going on and we had to keep moving! I didn't think to take any pictures, but I used to tutor a student at this university, so I am including a nice picture I took to show you how pretty the place is.

High Point University. Nice place. They do a lot of community engagement.

Lovely building! I didn’t do anything. I like nice, quiet holidays, and that’s exactly what I had!

This is one of the places I met my student - it's an activities building, with study rooms upstairs and a fitness center downstairs. You can't see it in the photo, but there is a swimming pool in front of it!

This is a beautiful building. We did nothing special for Christmas, we were only my husband and I, we had a nice lunch and spent the afternoon watching a movie.

Yes, without kids, the holiday can be a little low-key, but there's nothing wrong with having a nice, cozy evening.
