About Amyloid Build Up

After first hearing about amyloid build up, I was interested and started reading and researching it. Here is some of what I found: Amyloid is an abnormal, insoluble protein fiber that builds up in organs and tissue. It disrupts normal functioning and causes diseases called amyloidosis. This is seen in Type 2 Diabetes and Alzheimer's and can involve the heart , liver, kidney and nervous system. Supplements such as Vitamin D and Omega 3 can help. In more extreme cases you can have IV infusions that helps rid the immune system of amyloid plaque. Drugs like chemotherapy and monoclonal antibodies destroy cells or block protein production. The buildup of amyloid deposits damages the nerves, and this affects sensation, movement, strength, and some more personal functions in the body. This buildup is very serious so if you have Alzheimer's or Type 2 Diabetes in your family you might think about consulting with your doctor.

I take Vitamin D every morning and can't take Omega 3 supplement. I'm allergic to something in fish. *shrug*

Unless you have hereditary amyloidosis, the risk is related to lifestyle, as it is for many things - in fact more and more diseases are being found to be lifestyle-related. So everyone can reduce the risks by taking more exercise (little and often better than one big burst), eating plenty of vegetables, avoiding processed foods, and limiting eating to within a shorter window (for example a ten-hour period within every 24 hours).

Yes, that's true. But I think it is good to know such things exist.
