Off duty deputies save children from a house fire in Indiana

Two Vigo County Sheriff's Office (VCSO) were on their way home from their work on Monday January 5 afternoon when an emergency call notified them that a house was on fire.
The deputies with the assistance of the Otter Creek Fire Department went to the house that was on fire to rescue two children who were inside of the home.
One of the children was asleep when the firefighters rescued the two children and get them out of the house safe and sound.
The names of the officers are Officer Newman and Officer Bliss who are being praised for their work of saving the life of the children even though they were off duty.

It's a law that working smoke alarms are in every home, whether it's a rental or individually owned. I'm glad they were rescued, but I do find myself wondering why nothing was mentioned about where the parents were.
