Thanks to the actions of the Gun Barrel Fire Department (GBFD) who answered an emergency request from the Henderson County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) on Saturday January 10 to rescue two duck hunters who were inside of a sinking boat in Cedar Lake in Seven Points Texas, the firefighters sent a rescue boat to locate the boat and victims that needed to be rescued. The two hunters were in the lake about 500 yards from the shore when the firefighters and then were taken by an ambulance to the University of Texas Health to be treated for spending time in the lake which had a temperature of 56 degrees Fahrenheit for a period of 90 minutes before they were transported to another hospital for further evaluation. No firefighters were injured in the rescue mission. The incident is being investigated by the Texas Game Wardens. Link is msn.com/en/news/us/...

And more boaters run into trouble there. there ought to be a law agains nonprofessional boaters; too much trouble but glad they were helped.

You have a good point there about banning boaters who get into accidents.

Cool that they are all okay. But why firefighters who rescued them? don't they have coastal guards?

I guess the firefighters were the ones who had jurisdiction in that area.

I wonder if they had already caught some ducks, which might then have been lost when the boat sunk, as it looks as if it was left to sink. Those men were lucky to be rescued as too long spend in a cold lake like that could have caused them some major health issues.
