Alligator is located in northwest Mississippi and has only 116 residents. Its name came from Alligator Lake, which used to have a lot of alligators. In fact, Mississippi has the seventy-highest alligator population among all the US states. Anyone famous? Chicago blues and soul singer Johnny Drummer And as a complete surprise, you’ll find not only the Alligator Grocery Store but also a Walmart Supercenter, Kroger, and Piggly Wiggly in the area.

Back when I was a kid, there was a Piggly Wiggly here... It closed and became other stores over the years since then.

@RasmaSandra It depends on how many people live in the surrounding area, not just in the town.

@DaddyEvil it interested me that this town with so few residents had these stores because when I wrote about Two Egg Florida with about 3,000 residents there were no stores, Go figure,

I’d shop at the Alligator Grocery Store just to say I did. We don’t have a Kroger or Piggly Wiggly. We do have alligators though!

@RasmaSandra Oklahoma has them. I don’t know exactly where the alligators are in Oklahoma, but I don’t think it is in my area. I didn’t know Oklahoma had them at all until a few years ago.

Those critters scare me. I'm glad I don't live in the southern states. No Piggly Wiggly here either.
