I did my own forensic analysis of the Minneapolis ICE shooting.

By now we all know about the shooting of an unarmed woman by an ICE agent in Minneapolis Minnesota. I believe that the perp will get away with a Voluntary Manslaughter conviction, but that's a subject for another post. As I was leaving Casper's the other night with a hot dog in my hand, I passed in front of my truck and saw a brief flash of light as a street light caused a tiny chip in my windshield to remind me of its presence. I was right at the corner between the front of my truck and the side, about two feet away from the truck. I paused and noticed that the wheels of my truck were turned hard to the right (for parking), just like the wheels of the lady who got shot and killed. Of course, my mind started working, even though I was hungry (I had just gotten off from one of my longest work days). If I shot at "myself" from that angle, and created the ding in my windshield, the bullet might have hit "me" in the right shoulder. . Had I been further to the left, or partially in front of the vehicle, a shot at the same angle would have passed through the windshield further to the left, and might have "winged" the victim in the right shoulder. In the videos I have seen, the bullet hole in the windshield looks "down and to the right" from the shooter's perspective. If there is evidence that the first bullet grazed the victim's LEFT arm, or missed her entirely, then the shooter could plausibly argue that he was still partially in front of the car when he fired the first shot. But if the next two shots were fired through an open driver side window, I don't know how the shooter could claim those shots were in self defense. I look forward to information how many times she was hit (we clearly heard three shots) and where. I am not in any way defending the officer's actions. Minnesota law clearly states that an officer can only use deadly force if there is no other way (e.g., jumping out of the way of a stopped car that is starting to drive off) to avert serious injury or death. What are your thoughts? Is my analysis sound?

Fair points but what idiot gets in front of a running vehicle? One that was drawing up a plan to murder someone and get away with it.

@TheHorse The one good thing is most jury;s take their job very serious and get it right most times. I learned not to give percentages. Anyway, if that dude does face a jury, I think when people hear the facts, he will be joining the George Floyd Killer. The problem is I do not think under this administration that he will ever be held accountable and Democrats as of late have always shown one thing. Who cares about the past, which is why we ended up with Trump a second time. They wanted to show they were bigger than Trump. Who is the fool now? Just asking for a friend? Meaning he is not in custody, but heard his family kind of kicked him out, but that maybe rumors, but sometimes rumors are true or at least have a hint of truth to them.

I cannot believe it was premeditated. He did not wake up and say to himself, "I am gonna shoot me a protester today."

@crossbones27 Maybe we will learn more about the perp. Is he in custody? I actually do not know.

In my opinion the ICE agent was not in danger, he shoot because they know that they are protected, they do what they want.

@TheHorse - Because they have impunity and they are scared kids, they shot because they are frightened to be hurt.

@LadyDuck I was a bit scared sometimes, growing up on the South Side of Chicago. But I never wanted to kill anybody.

I believe he just wanted to shoot someone and was not in any danger at all.

@wolfgirl569 I just watched some new video. It's pretty obvious the woman was just trying to leave the scene, which should have been what the ICE officers wanted. The killer actually leaned onto her hood from the side to get a good shot at her.

He could have just moved to his right. Wait. He DID move to his right. From what I hear, the second and third shots were fired through her open window. But I could be wrong.

@RasmaSandra Do you think he actually fired through her open window after he was clearly out of harm's way? That's what I think. But I could be wrong.

From what you're saying sounds like reasonable thought process. I can't agree or disagree with you since I have not seen the videos. I have heard about it a little. My only reactions are, how do these people have so much time to protest? Don't they have jobs and a life to live?

Heh. I have wondered the same thing. I don't have time for stuff like that.

@Bensen32 If I had the time, I might protest. But I would be really respectful of everyone around me. I have stuff I want to do before I expire.

Ok so we saw the videos From all angles. I reckon he murdered the woman. There was no need for that at all. It's not like she was going to flee the country.

What would make someone want to murder another human being? I wonder if the investigation will look into the shooter's recent life history. Of course they'll check his emails and internet postings, to see if this could have been premeditated. But my hunch is that it was not.

@TheHorse I don't know what would make one human being want to murder another But in America a very high number of disputes end with someone getting shot. The guy quite clearly did not HAVE to shoot her. There were options which would have kept everyone safe. That much was clear - but he will walk free

It's possible. But I also doubt that Ice agents follow state law. So, they could've been opporating under other orders. I don't know. I know someone was shot by ICE, but that's all I know so far.

Why would a random dude want to kill a lady he had never properly met? It seems so odd to me.

Have you seen this? I believe it to be consistent with my analysis. But I still think he could get off with Voluntary Manslaughter.
