Depressing mail today!

When the postman pushed a bundle of post through the letterbox this morning I was hopeful I might receive something interesting, maybe even a very late Xmas card from a friend or something like that. Instead I received a water bill and a very depressing collection of junk mail, vis: A flyer from an estate agency asking if we wanted to sell our house A promotional leaflet for a retirement housing complex A brochure for a care home Are they trying to tell us something? I was not amused. The only consolation was that our neighbours, who are about 25 years younger, also received the same things, so I guess it isn’t personal. Royal Mail Opt out Door to Door service has cut out all the leaflets etc from being put through our door. We do not get any mail not addressed to us but sadly still do get stuff like " to the occupier" I bet the water bill is depressing.

I live in apartments, so I automatically assume everyone gets the same blurbs. And, for some reason, I don’t usually notice the junk mail. I did realize years ago that since I don’t have children, someone else will be responsible for placing me in a home if I can’t take care of myself. I told my niece, Amyra, that wherever she put me, just make sure they don’t have roaches or bed bugs. I can deal with everything else.

That is depressing. I am glad that also the very young ones received the same.

We used to get the mail every day. Now, we only bother about once a week.
