Youtube shorts tend to surpise me. This is about not getting the love from your parents

Not supporting Youtube. The message is parents should be forgiven for not loving us the way we needed. Instead, we should forgive ourselves for finding love at the wrong places and that we should start healing. I paraphrased it. Some people answered they can't forgive just for the sake of forgiving. Others said their parents are gone so they had no chance but to forgive. Some, sadly, wish their parents could just die already. Some wrote that God healed them and showed them the way. It's hard to mention religion in this context too and to include it or not. Some still have traumas and are focused on their own families and such. What's your take? Is it okay to forgive but not forget or neither? Is it okay to let go just so the others can feel better? Are we selfish for not forgiving? We could debate this for a long time, I feel.

I could forgive but I cannot forget. I will never forgive my brother for throwing his own daughter out of his house because she "did not get along well" with his insane young new girlfriend.

@LadyDuck letting go or moving on is the best for us and our peace.

I think people who claim to have forgiven and be able to forget are not telling the truth. It's there, it doesn't go away. And if someone reminds you of something you have forgiven somebody for doing, it's there again so you cannot forget

you are right. i don't want to remember so many things but when someone made you feel bad, you are right, it stays there, in our brain and you can remember it out of nowhere.

I couldn’t forgive my first husband either I was so bitter. Then when I saw him dying in a hospital bed I instantly forgave him.

The Bible tells me to forgive and forget--which is hard, but I can ask the Lord for help doing so.

yes, Bible is an interesting book. In Old Testament it was so much killing and in the New Testament, we are forgiving to everyone. you are right, it is hard.
