There's one in every band

I wrote about a crash in our house and how Vince slept through it. He is now quite deaf once he takes his hearing aids out so he was unaware of the shelf collapsing until I woke him up. Something in the comments made me remember several older men who played in the brass bands that we were involved in. These two players were very keen bandsmen but both were losing their hearing. They both played trombone. This meant they played louder than they needed to, and the trombone produces plenty of noise anyway, and they weren’t always in tune, which is also easy to do with a trombone. Brass players tend to say ‘there is one in every band’, just as with many councils and clubs there often seems to be a cantankerous member who seems to like causing trouble. The photo is of our son thinking about playing Vince's B flat bass.

I can imagine the noise of the two trombones (tromboni?). My Mom had become quite deaf like Vince. She could not hear a lot when the took of her hearing aids. I love this photo of your son.
