Hey y'all!
I saw on another discussion it was being talked about how young you were when learning to cook. Most of my kiddos were around 12ish when they started learning or showing interest in cooking.
However, Julian absolutely LOVES to cook! So, at 9 years old he's cooking-with supervision of course.
Here's what he's cooked so far:
Eggs
Fettucine Alfredo
Rice
Spaghetti
Soup
Macaroni and Cheese
So, how old were you when you started cooking or learning? What about your children?

@LovingMyBabies Yes, we definitely do too. If it's something they're interested in, then we do support them as much as we can

@dodo19 Yes I agree, I encourage my kids to learn anytime they want to. =) It sounds like you do the same with yours!

I remember having a child's cookbook; but I don't remember how old I was. I have always liked to cook and bake; but I can no longer do either.

@LovingMyBabies I've resigned myself to the fact; but it's still hard. Thank you.

I forget what age, but I was around 12 when I learned to cook poached eggs on toast and fudge.

@LeaPea2417 That's awesome! I think that's the most common age for it.

I probably didn't start cooking until I was about 12/13 but kids these days seem to be doing some serious cooking at much younger ages. One tv show that I love is Master Chef Jr and kids as young as 8 are cooking gourmet meals.

@JudyEv Well that's good! Julian is more of a home body, he enjoys doing inside things which is okay too. Every child is different. =)

Good for Julian! Well, true cooking was probably twelve although I’d make brownies and cake when I was ten. But at twelve, my mom was bedridden and couldn’t leave her room. My dad worked, so me and my 14 year old sister took turns cooking every night. We had some incidents with my sister’s meals (she never poured the grease out of the hamburger meat when she’d make casseroles or even did Hamburger Helper). So after awhile, I took over all the cooking. But my sister is an excellent cook now. She’s definitely better than me. I think motherhood really inspired her.

@AmbiePam Sorry you had to grow up at such a young age with what you went through. That must have been tough but also most likely prepared y'all for life. Motherhood definitely has a way of changing us!
