Wishing Warmth To All My Friends

Winter storm "Fern" is currently decimating a good portion of the United States, and many American myLotters are caught in the middle of it. Luckily, Florida (where I live) is having nothing to do with this storm, and rightfully so. We're a tropical state for a reason! lol. Anyway, I'm still recovering from pneumonia, so I am happy for once to be in such a warm climate.
But that doesn't mean I don't wish my fellow myLotters well during this time. I really feel for you, and hope you are finding ways to stay warm and safe. I wish I could send some of our Florida warmth up to you! Instead, I'll just have to send warm vibes your way!
Let me know how you are doing currently, and the weather conditions you are experiencing. Are you handling it well? Any major concerns?
Since I've been really sick lately, I don't have any recent photos, but here is a photo of "Spaceship Earth" at Epcot at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, I took this picture about a week or so ago before my pneumonia diagnosis. I was enjoying a nice morning sitting on a bench drinking a warm coffee.

Still sending healing vibes your way!
It's 9F here with a RealFeel of -1F... We have roughly 5 inches on the ground with a prediction of another 6 inches tonight.
Pretty and I are staying inside where it's warm.

@moffittjc You're welcome.
In one storm, that's not good. That's usually about the amount we get in one winter.

So you’re looking at a total of 11 inches? Is that considered really bad?
And thanks for the healing vibes!

@DaddyEvil Ouch. That sounds bad. We’re going to get hit hard next week, which makes me wonder…are you also going to get another round next week as well?

Oh no! Didn't know you had been sick since I have been skipping out lately. A lot going on here!!
This cold is not for southerners!!! We have a week here of lows in the teens and 20's. I don't know if I can make it all week long. We have never had a stretch this long with this low of temps.
We have had light rain all day and this evening it rev'd up to hard rain with a bit of thunder. Had a wee bit of sleet, but not much in my area today. That may be a different story tomorrow or Monday.
Send me all the warmth you can and I hope you are feeling much better!!

I've been soaking up as much of the warmth as I can for the past 4 days, because starting tomorrow our temps plunge down into the 20s. And like you said, us Southerners are not used to such prolonged cold weather. Looking at our forecast, it looks like we are going to be down into the 20s and 30s for at least the next 10 days. I don't know if I can handle that!

I'm surprised you only got about 3 inches. I would have thought that you would have been buried in snow, the way the weather reports keep making it sound.

I hope you feel better soon. At the moment I'm cold. As soon as I'm done here I will check on the s**w and then wrap up in my blanket. It's going to continue in the teens for highs for at least another week.

Thank you. I'm slowly starting to feel better, although I still have no strength, and my lungs feel like I'm being stabbed with a knife when I cough. But I am slowly getting better.
Have you been getting more snow than normal, or is most of the worst of the ice and snow farther south than you?

@LindaOHio Today is the first day of our weeklong cold spell. It’s 27 out right now, which is bad for us here in Florida. Our lows will be in the 20s for the next 5-6 nights. I’m not happy thinking about it.

@Ineeddentures I'm seriously debating about postponing the trip. I meet with my doctor again on Tuesday, I will bring up this situation and see what his advice is. I will follow his advice.
At the same time, I need to get out and get away from the daily grinds of life. Being outdoors in nature would be just the thing my body needs; although I could do without the frigid cold.

I'm on my way to recovery, although we are about to get hit hard with cold weather for the next 10 days. I don't do well in cold weather, as far as my health is concerned, so I hope I don't relapse. I will eat as much pie as I can, because it's nice and warm and good for the soul.

Do not do this stupid camping trip you were talking about especially if it gets colder.
Pneumonia , it can take months and months to recover from.
You need to stay warm, anything else, and you could relapse

I sure hope you shake this pneumonia soon, Jeff. It sounds worrisome.
We have four inches of snow, but should get ten more overnight. It’s 10 F, but it will be -2 F tomorrow. Not typical of Oklahoma. For us, this is our first taste of winter. After all, on December 27th, less than a month ago, it was 86 degrees and humid!
I’m stocked up on essentials, including pee pads for Sadie. She ran out once, and came right back in. I didn’t have to go behind to chase after her. They said we won’t get a lot of ice, so our power is expected to stay on. If it goes out, I imagine my dad will try…try to come get me. They have a fireplace.

Nothing about this winter seems typical. Florida was supposed to have a hot winter (which we did up until New Years), and we were NOT supposed to get any snow this winter, yet for the second year in a row it has snowed here. And they're saying there is a real possibility for MORE snow next week.
I really, really hope you are able to stay warm and safe. Please, please, please don't let the power go out where you live!

@kareng We had it back in November and December! LOL
I read recently that the La Niña that was supposed to give us the warm, mild winter has weakened, which is allowing all that pent up cold air from the Arctic to plummet down to us.

Oh that is a terrible state to be in!
I hope you are recovering well.
Warmth and blessings to folks who are caught in snow storms and facing challenges.
Here, it was warming up but good rain on Friday has bought down the mercury.
max around 18 to 19C and minimum dips to 6 to 7 C.
Yet the cold winds do test us.
Do follow all guidelines from physician and get well soon.

Here too often what is more challenging than cold is the big temperature difference.
Afternoons can be pleasant with one needing just one sweater or a jacket, and sudden temperature drop in the evening.
So day its close to 18 to 20C and dips to 5/6 C in the evening.
It can be so testing.
Hopefully, weather stabilizes more for you.

Thank you for your concerns Anna. I am on my last day of antibiotics, and have slowly been feeling better. It's been rather warm the past 4 days, but starting tomorrow the temperatures plummet below freezing for the next week. That is when I always start to worry that my health may take another turn for the worst. It seems like every time I start to feel better, it gets cold and I get sick again. I'm hoping that with the latest round of antibiotics I will be able to withstand the extreme cold without getting sick again. My poor lungs can't take any more sickness!

There's a ride inside that big "golf ball!" It's a slow moving travel through time, taking "travelers" through the history of human existence, from caveman days to the future filled with technology and innovation.
I'm slowly starting to feel better, although I don't have my full strength back yet. But I'm getting there.
And I'm not sure where they come up with the names of these winter storms.

@moffittjc That ride sounds fascinating - like a mini history lesson inside a giant golf ball!
. I’m glad to hear you’re slowly feeling better; it takes time to get your full strength back, but you’re on the right track. And yes, those winter storm names can be pretty random sometimes - makes you wonder who’s in charge of the list!

I'm on my last day of antibiotics, and feel like I'm maybe 75-80% better. I was hoping to be much more healed, but I am going to trust the process. My lungs are sore and hurting from so much coughing. I'm worried about relapsing, because starting tomorrow our temps plummet down into the 20s for at least the next week, if not longer. I don't usually do well in cold weather, health wise.
