I will be very surprised

I will be very surprised if they call off school tomorrow. The snow did not continue today as it had been predicted. The wind is calm, no big drifts. The plows have been out, even in our little town. The sun is shining brightly. My car starts and runs, and I can get out of my driveway, since this was not ice but was snow. We got about six inches. I guess the deciding factor will be what the rural roads look like in the county. I really would have liked another day off.

It turned out my prediction was wrong, and I am glad to have that extra day to rest.

I’ll cross my fingers you get that day off anyway. They already canceled ours.

We got our time off. They needed to clear parking spaces and sidewalks to keep us all safe. We got the day off.

My car starts and runs but I'm not shoveling off the driveway or taking it on the streets. They plowed here twice but vehicles are still slipping and sliding on the roads. I can see them sliding down to the gas station at the end of our street. There is one car in the ditch beside the gas station or it was there this morning. I haven't looked this evening to see if it had been towed out of the ditch. We had sun this afternoon but, at 12F, sunshine doesn't mean a whole lot. The announcement on the television, radio and online all said school WOULD be in session Monday here.

In those conditions that is just plain silly or worse. If those are the road conditions then people, including school children, should stay home.

@GardenGerty I definitely wouldn't let a teenager drive right now and would have kept Pretty at home if she were still in school.

EVERYTHING is closed here. Plow guy said we got 18 inches. Stay safe and warm; and I hope they call off school.

I guess the deciding factor for school is if the heating systems are working and the sidewalks and parking are clear.

We don't have snow but the schools temporarily occupied by typhoon evacuees don't hold their regular classes. They're using modular studies or online.

I think in a lot of ways hurricanes are worse than snow storms. At least the snow melts.

@GardenGerty Nevertheless both wreak havoc. Aren't they?

I do hope that you get another day off Heather. What you describe would close the schools here.

We did get another day off. In the fifty mile radius around here one or two districts had school.

Schools would be closed with that here, or at least a two hour delay.

I thought maybe a two hour delay but it turns out it was called off.
