Her Mom Keeps Almost Killing Her Dad / myLot

Remember my childhood best friend with all the health problems they recently diagnosed? Well, this is just weirder. Her dad is in the hospital. He needs a liver transplant, but is in the hospital for something else. The hospital is not giving him the medicine he normally takes at home, and his wife (my friend’s mother) does not like that. So she crushes the pills and gets him to take it behind their back (he’s out of it). She’s done it three times, and each time his blood pressure tanks and they call in the “crash cart”. This is understandably upsetting my friend, but she doesn’t want to get her mother in trouble. No one is around when she does it, not even my friend. Her mom just tells her about it. Say whaaaat? Her mom is getting close to killing her dad, and she just signed a DNR for him… Edit: REPORTED

I asked my nurse friend if I should say anything, and she said I could, but that if any of them lied about it they wouldn’t take my word over theirs. However, last night my friend went up there, and he seems to be in his right mind. I don’t know. Her mom is kooky on a good day.

@AmbiePam I'd still make the call. At least the visit of someone would likely make the mother think twice about what she is doing.

How awful! I cannot fully understand why her mom is doing it unless she really does intend to kill her father. this is an added stress to your friend and she doesn't need it at the moment when she's suffering from her own health problems.

I think her mom is so stressed her mind is clearly messed up. She really thought he needed that medicine at first, but now she certainly has to see it’s a detriment.

This is beyond disturbing. She could be in really deep trouble if she continues. I agree with @NJ Chicca, it’s way past time for someone to call Adult Protective Services. Plus, it could keep him from getting the transplant.

I agree, and this irrelevant, but I wonder if he’s getting a transplant at all. He smoked all his life, and they just put him on the list. Of course, you never know.

No, I really don’t think so. She’s nuts. Over the years she’s gotten into conspiracy theories, and now she’s kooky. She really thinks she’s doing the right thing, I think.
