A Science oriented advocacy group has set their " Doomsday Clock" at 85 seconds to midnight - last year it was set at 89 seconds. According to the Group " Earth is closer than it has ever been to destruction as Russia, China, the U.S. and other countries become increasingly aggressive , adversarial and nationalistic" The Group also cited Climate change and AI as contributing factors. So what do you think? Is the destruction of the world just around the corner? You can read about it in the AP report below. Well it could be. But I hope that a certain world leader will calm down and behave like an adult.

@Ineeddentures Well, there is a picture of the advocacy group and they seem to have been around for awhile. I don 't think we need AI to tell us what is right in front of our eyes.....

@Kandae11 I read the article, and have seen many like it. I think most of us could write such an article with the help of AI Doomsday, initiated by a combination of world events and climate change Plausible but not probable

I don't believe these prophecies. There are so many how can you know which is the 'real' one?

I don't think this is prophesy exactly. Seems like the Group is keeping a close watch on world events and weighing possibilities. They are also watching climate change - melting glaciers, hotter summers, colder winters, stronger hurricanes etc.

They might be right but I don't really concern myself about it. If I die, I die. Everything comes to an end anyway, whether it be the earth's destruction or not. Life ends with certainty. I just don't like the violence that's been going on like crazy. People killing people.

@Kandae11 If there's world peace I think all would agree to fix the world and climate change won't kill us instantly but violence does.

There is so much hate, fighting and division. Even if there is world peace. What about climate change and AI.

I would rather believe what the BIble says about the the signs of the end times than what others guess at.

World events are pointing to the end of the age. It is sobering for me to deal with.

I saw this, but I am not any more worried than I was 20 years ago. The world has survived this long, and it will survive for many more.

We are approaching Doomsday. I hope the destruction of the world is not just around the corner. I hope that wise politicians can stop the madmen who will cause the destruction.

That is also my hope. It isn't fair that just a few could put the entire world in jeopardy.

I have enough problems controlling my anxiety and don't need to add to my worries. I am ready to step over that threshold and join my loved ones so bring on the worst.

My view is that there is some time left yet. So everyone should get on with their lives while being the best they can be.
